Have my pump out right now and was just thinking why can't I mount it up where the second pump would go and run it off the belt. Wherli(sp?) makes a plug to block off the hole in the block. Seems a lot more simple to me than having it deep in the valley...

My truck is setup like this. Jason made the high pressure line for me.

Bought my bracket and wheel used, off of guys on here.

Just found your old thread. Thanks looks like I'll go a similar route. I'm not a parts replacer kind of guy and am too cheap to just bite the bullet on a new pump so I like the idea of making things easy and accessible. I've had the pump out 3 times in 3 days trying to figure out why I don't have any fuel in the rail. Quite frankly it's a shitty job and I'm tired of it.

P.s I would just buy a pump if I thought it wasn't a good pump. Truck ran perfectly fine when it came in the shop. It just puked all it's coolant out the tank

Man this is a great idea!
I might just do it!

And I've got a good LBZ pump I'd sell if you were interested...it has 150k on it and still held 24k pushing 60's

Do you plan on swapping cp3's a lot? Lol

Not so much, I'm hoping to get a new one for this new engine tho and as of right now I can't afford it so I might just have to mount the old one and run with it and later swap in a new one. Then as things progress I'll probably want to get a 12mm pump.

Bottom line
It'd sure be nice to be able to get to the damn thing with out all the hassle of yarding it out of the valley! And i think having mounted up in the 2nd alternator position would lend itself well for the custom fuel lines set up I'm putting together...

I wonder if anyone has dealt with belt slip at all running a single CP3 in this position? Not that I think it'd be problematic, just curious...

Y'all are placing a lot of trust in a pain old serpentine belt and a bunch of pulleys. Any one of those idlers, tensioners or belt driven accessories lockup your pump no pump no mo'. It's one thing to drive the second pump off of the serpentine or remote mount one or both on a competition truck but on a dd imo it isn't the best thing

Spare belt under my seat along with a ratchet. My trucks been setup like this for 6 months without a problem. How often do these trucks throw belts if maintained properly? You come of like this setup is on a 84 chevy that blows a power steering belt every time you go hot rod it off-road.

No slip in 6 months here. My fuel line is 1/2 rubber to stainless braided with a ported an fitting into the pump.

So when the belt snaps or a pulley bites the dust then your pump will stop spinning thus shutting down the engine.

Idk about the rest of you but when a belt snaps or pulley quits working Im not gonna have a need for the fuel pump to work until it fixed anyways

These trucks will drive a pretty long way with no belt or accessories. Provided you aren't towing heavy or something. I've seen it first hand. Long enough to get to the next exit or gas station to safely fix it vs coasting to the side of the road dead in the water.

I'm not saying it happens all the time like v-belts did back in the day but I have first hand seen a tensioner fail and belt thrown with little to no warning. We easily made it the last few miles to my buddies house and got him taken care of in the comfort of his garage vs side of the road. It may suck changing pumps but at least they're reliable and for the most part last well over 200k miles

Just one lazy guys opinion

An idler seized on me in the middle of the highway during rush hour in my reg cab short bed LBZ 2 months ago.. Instead of pulling over and being the asshole that made traffic worse I kept driving. Kept an eye on my gauges and drove another 30 miles to my jobsite since I needed fuel that day for my equipment. Even started it two more times that day. Then loaded it on the back of the trailer at the end of the day, started it again and drove it into the shop to fix it. Couldn't have done that with the remote mount CP3 but oh well.

I've had a seized Idler too and yes you can in fact derive it several miles with no belt.

I guess. I just don't see why you would want to go out of your way to remote mount the cp3.
