I have a buddy of mine that took his LMM to a local "performance" shop to have EFILive flashed and a DSP5 with tunes from a reputable tuner. I had never heard of this shop and tried to talk him out of it (even offered my recommendation on tuner and offered to flash it for him), but he did it anyways. Come to find out that the shop had never done EFILive and they keep flashing it and replacing switches and still can't get it to work.

So, my question is, he is getting me the tune file and I made sure they kept the stock OS file before they flashed it, but if I flash back over it with the tune file from my V2, is it going to cost another VIN license?

I've never tried to use a different V2 than the original V2 to flash. My understanding has been that once it's flashed and locked, it's locked to that V2 cable. So, I'm assuming it will cost another license for me to do it, but I'm not 100% sure.

He's frustrated and I know I can fix it, I'm just trying to figure out if it going to cost another VIN license for me to do it.

Thanks guys.

That's what I figured.

So what happens is something happens to your V2/cable to where you have to replace it? I just find it hard to believe that if something happened, every truck you have ever done is just completely up a creek without having a new VIN license for each one. Can the VIN licenses be transferred over to your new V2?
