Depends on how much money you have to spend.
If money isn't an object, then yeah the built trans is the way to go. If you are on a budget then "I" would go this route in order:
EGT and Boost gauges, shim your fuel pressure relief valve, install a lift pump, install at the very least an Ally Jr. Shift kit in the transmission, get rid of the stock tie rods and go with a set of Cognito's if you ever plan to drag race or pull in 4WD.
Then start looking towards doing a built transmission-whether it be Suncoast or ATS with a new torque converter, and then start saving for pistons and ARP head studs as some of the LBZ's unfortunately like to blow pistons and head gaskets at the higher hp settings-cause your going to be having too much fun to keep the power in check
The only reason I say hold off on the fully built trans is because the 6 speeds seem to hold up to the power a little better than the 5 speeds did, but it all depends on the driving style too.
OT but I have lots of family in Winnipeg, maybe if I head that way this summer I will look you up!
