I am looking at getting a set of traction bars and suspension stops before I pull this year. I think im pretty well set on MA stops, and I like their traction bars but they are a little on the pricey side. does anybody else make a good quality traction bar that isn't super expensive?

X2. I just built some today for a buddy. 60" bars for 100 bucks in material. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1371436908.237394.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1371436915.899968.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1371436998.766472.jpg

You buy the material and bring them over. With some beer. I live just north of Springfield. I have a buddy that is a good welder as well that lives it Roanoke

What do you consider expensive? Expense vs value is a double edged sword to me, I see the frugal value of building your own, to an extent, that's cool if you want to directly weld to your frame and all. I have also seen a set that mounts by cutting a hole in the frame, can't remember if there was welding in that set or not? And all seasons and cognito trac bars are both pretty good, I think all seasons has a stronger set available, both a light and heavy duty set. Also what's the total for a set of bars and stops?

I guess what I'm wondering is what is the purpose(s) your truck fulfills? Even though the set was something like $380, I find great value brought to the table in a set of cal tracs by Calvert. They can be removed easily, they are super easy to use, they are tougher than nails, and adjustable for multiple duties. They work like a champ form1/4mi duty, I have seen guys use them for pulling and doing well with them too. They work two fold as well, both eliminating axle wrap, which helps keep axle hop to a minimum, and also pre loading the spring pack to completely eliminate axle hop and transfer more of the energy to the contact patch of the tire, kinda like solid blocking the spring pack, but better.

Versatility has to be counted for in my book, it has value as past the initial cost

Just a thought

this is a very good point, but I have already ordered stops, and I found a member on here that is nice enough to build me a set for a very reasonable price. thank you all for the help :thumb:

I would never buy something that I can make that does the same job

I made my own 60" DOM tube heim joint end for under 200 bucks.

Caltracs are nice but not for how much they cost.

I agree, if I had the ability to weld worth a crap, and the time, I would do it. but I have neither

What about BDS traction bars. Look like there is pretty good support by the way there built and look nice. I don't pull and only drag maybe 20-30 passes a year but they look nice and around around 400 if I'm correct? Not sure how they would do for pulling.
