OK, this is very sad....but if he had a known history for driving fast and his friends knew about it...that was a risk they took. Like I said I feel bad but I think the kid driving the car has enough to deal with knowing what happened to his friends. 2 years for that but I know a guy that did 10 for murder....wtf?

Seems more harse than normal for a first time injury accident caused by speeding.

Billy Lane, the famous motorcycle builder, was drunk at 3 times the limit when he passed illegally and hit and killed a motorcyclist head-on in his Dodge-donated 4x4 pickup. This was back in 2006. He was driving on suspended license for drunk driving, and was going at least 80mph.

He has not spent a day in jail as far as I know.

His lawyers will probably get him a pass.

Not to mention a few months ago his father commited suicide on a sunday morning while his wife was waiting in their duramax waiting to go to church. His dad was the sweetest man I had ever known. 400 people showed up to his Wake and 500 to his funeral. So so sad.

"I'm so glad he's sentenced to prison where he belongs," she said. "I think justice was served. Too bad there wasn't a longer sentence."

I wonder if she would have felt that way if her son had been the driver?

Hey Paint, what did Forrest Phillips drive before the Incident

It's because of people like this that I have grown so cold. It's not like did what was mentioned by McRat in the Billy Lane situation. This was one of her sons friends. I bet if they were true friends and they were f*cked up from it but no brain damage they would have takin the stand for him. Every time I get into a fast car with one of my friends I take this risk, it is something that I accept by getting in the car with them.

There is no doubt the parents feel a lot of pain.....but is this really what the vicims would want if they could talk?

..in a Pontiac GTO belonging to a friend, 19-year-old Austin Koren of Novato. Koren was in the front passenger seat.. Koren broke his shoulder..

The two in the front had minor~ish injuries compared to the two in the rear. Makes me wonder if they (rear two) were buckled up.

Now, if I read the court transcript and it say the PASS were begging him to slow down it would be 100% his fault but I dont know the facts so we can only take it at face value.

I agree exactly Simon. When your father commits suicide because of you, your family is destroyed. He was criminally sentenced to 2 years prison, but now begins the civil suits. The Phillip's family is asking for 16 million. The Gilberto's have an undisclosed asking amount. Phil's mom is gonna loose their home, and their very very successful Pizzeria. Very sad times ahead.:(

What a joke no ones life is worth 16 mil. As long as he was 18 or older they can't sue the parents....only him...and my guess is at 20 years of age he probably doesn't have much to take (could be wrong tho)

Believe it or not just because you turn 18 doesn't make your parents protected from being sued. If a lawyer can prove that you supported your child financially then you are still financially liable for any civil crimes they commit. No one here's about that clause they just think your 18 boom they have nothing to fear.
