Just got back from a 2,500 mile Yellowstone trip and had 3 DTC's I have never seen before. I was towing a 11,000 lb 5th wheel and the hills were long and steep! One code makes sense but the other two I would appreciate some help with.

Code - Module - Description
P0234 - ECM - Turbocharger Engine Overboost

P0380 - ? - Glow Plug/Heater Circuit "A" Malfunction

B2425 - DSM - Driver Seat Heater Circuit

The last one makes sense because I know my heating element is toast. What are the first two from? I cleared them but would like to know if there is something I need to pay attention to?

I also have another post regarding LOW BOOST on my turbo. I am only getting about 18 lbs of boost. I don't know if this has anything to do with DTC P0234?

BTW, I have the whole DTC table in Excel format for anyone who would like it - PM me your email address.

Thanks for your help!

PS. MODS - if this is the wrong place to post this please feel free to move. Based on the subforums it's not easy to tell where something like this should go.

That's why I am worried. If I am only pulling 18 lbs of boost why would I be getting that code?

Perhaps the factory MAP (boost) sensor is failing? That's the only thing I can think of as to why it would get an overboost code with only 18 psi. See if it comes back on again.

The P0380 is the generic glow plug code. Does your truck have Federal or California emissions? (does it have EGR?) If it has CA emissions, it could have a bad glow plug. That happened to mine.

No CA emissions. How would I know if it had an EGR? (Sorry if this is a dumb question)

I have had the boost code several times but never the glow plug one.

Sounds like you have a bad glow plug . And your building 18lbs boost too soon while towing .

Most of the time a P0380 on a federal emsiions truck is the glow plug controller relay has failed. A new relay from GM will set you back MORE than the complete controller, or you can get a 70 amp relay from NAPA or somebody else and replace the relays yourself for about $12. As for the overboost, you could have a failing boost pressure sensor, or a sticking wastegate actuator or something like that. I know my stock tune would de-fuel at 21 pounds of boost, other calibrations may be different.
