I have what seems like a very unique problem with the rear locks on my truck sometimes they unlock and sometimes the don't with either the remote or driver side switch. Could someone please enlighten me as to how to fix this intermittent nagging problem.

Ok this is pissing me off. I have tried just about everything without making much head way. I have swapped the lock unlock relays and the problem follows the relay. I replaced the relay and the problem is still there. I can press the unlock button and feel the relay drive but doesn't unlock the doors. I have disconnected the BCM without change? Can anyone think of anything else to check replace, etc? Thanks for you advise in advance.

Just a thought- do the lockout buttons that disable the rear door locks have any effect on your problem?

You might have an issue in the Drivers Door Module, and would have to have it reprogrammed or replaced.

Make sure there is no child-switch active.

To unlocked rear doors, you must push the unlock twice, not once. To lock them only takes once.

Not sure I know where this is (Child Switch)? The inside of the rear doors (child locks for the door release handle?)

The wierd thing is the problem is intermittent (well, intermittent until lately when they don't work more often than work!)

Is this different than the BCM? Where is it located and what would it take to reporgram?

Its the "box" under the window and lock buttons on the door. Tech 2 needed to reprogram. Try the other ideas first.

Another thing could be simply a worn out battery in your remote.

Thanks, I'm guessing I need to find a "nice" person with a Tech 2. The problem is not just with the remote unlock button, it also happens with the door switch on the drivers side. Even though I can feel the relay engaging when pressing the unlock button but the door locks don't unlock.

My rear door locks have been blowing the fuse under the dash for EVER. I have chased every wire and checked for shorts everywhere. Nothing..... I just gave up.

OK guys just wanted to give everyone else a heads-up on what has fixed this door unlock problem; my $100 fix. (well it shouldn't cost you a $100, but it did me!) I tech at the stealer found that after replacing the "lock" relay with my already purchased relay (which I bought to replace the oreilly unlock relay) the unlock feature worked. Funny thing is that without any relay in the lock spot on the fuse block the door still lock. So long story short, if you are experiencing this rear door not unlocking problem, replace both lock and unlock relays, it seems to have fixed my problem. (BTW the stealer got his 89.00 for connecting the tech II to the truck and replacing a relay  !)

PS
Thanks to everyone that replied to this thread for ideas to fix the problem!
