I am wondering what differential to go with the g80 ain't working.
I will be driving in LA traffic , towing , some off road , and it does rain sometimes in SoCal.
Truck has down pipe , 4 in exhaust , EFI Live , and Inglewood Trans.
Should I rebuild replace stock , do the dodge mod, powertrax no slip,
Or ?
What is everyone running ?

Thanks

I replaced my blown up g80 with the dodge AAM tracrite unit. Brand new they're $670, plus bearings.

So far at 1200whp, it is doing way better than the g80 ever did.

AAM tracrite here also. Off road will be the only downfall (if you want to call it that) if you've never driven a vehicle with a helical limited slip before.

Smoother operation, hardly any parts to wear out, no clutches to burn up. Seemed like a win in my book.

TX of course
If you wheel you need a locking diff not a limited slip like the dodge.
I've heard good things about Detroits options.

I'm running the True Trac - love it!! Night/Day performance compared to my g80.

Question, which is the preferred TrueTrac, don't these have a different bias..? If at some point my G-80 bites it which one is optimum.? I have read about the Torsen type carriers which this based on but what are the pro's and con's of the two below.?

Detroit, Yukon, dodge, aam, liberty(DHD)- Mark can get them all.

He was very helpful, thank you again!

I've never driven one with a truetrac, but supposedly they will spin both tires easier because the bias ratio is different. But on the other hand, I've never found a solid source that listed what the ratio was for both the AAM and Detroit version.

Opinions, need to change the fluid, pull the cover and inspect the Gov-bomb-80 and need a backup plan if it is not OK. Opinions on the 3:1 as opposed to the 2:1 bias..? The truck is a 2x4 and no off roading or 1/4 mile runs in the future..

You'll be fine with the AAM tracrite. The Detroit is more geared to aggressive drivers with offroad.

I got a 3:1 eaton true trac in my 79 malibu love it..
Ive thought about putting it in my dually. With rear axle weight and throttle needed to start out in a turn... dont yhink it would go well.. i can tell when the G80 is locked or not.. oversteer is extremely noticeable
