Looking to pull the bed and start re coating the frame soon

What's everyone using to do so and what steps?

I remember seeing somewhere on here a while back where someone did it but just spent the last 30 mins looking and can't find it.

Thanks guys

There was a whole thread about it, but guys have had really good success with oven cleaner.

I am interested in different kinds of under coating besides POR15. Stuff is good but id like to here about others

I can't find it. I tried searching and gave up.

I've seen people use KBS before and it turned out well.

I'm hoping someone can recall which one I'm taking about.

I don't get too carried away. Power wash and blow all the hard to get to spots with air compressor. rustoleum black and then rubberized undercoating.

I spray the undercoating again with black paint because it fades in spots that are always in the sun. If you keep up on it it works well without too much hassle and cost effective.

How bad is the frame?

If you don't remove every inch of previous undercoating, Por15 / Chassis saver, etc will peel up around the edges. Surface prep needs to be 100% for a rust proofing coating like those.

If you're just pressure washing and doing basic de scaling, I'd hit it with some high zinc primer then JD blitz black.

Back half is bad imo.

Planning on trying to get to bare metal and go from here.

KBS offers a 3 step process on it.

If you go that direction, the kbs kits are fairly cheap.

I'm a Por15 user for life, no reason to switch. BUT I'm sure these other companies know what they're doing :thumb:
