I am thinking about running my truck at the track for fun and I have some questions. Do you as a rule have to change out your coolant for water ? I saw on pinks that you do so it made me wonder. My truck is stock height and so are the t-bars, I have no frontend upgrades so I will be running in 2wd only. Even if I had sleeves and lowered the bars I dont want to have to re-align the front just so I can have a little fun. Sine I am running in 2wd should I leave with no Boost??? Should I put the trans in manual and 5th or will it be revving too high at the big end of the track??? Also what kind of times do you think I will run with a 90hp PPE tune and exhaust??? Is there any risk of the egt's getting too high with this small tune because I dont have gauges yet??? Sorry for the long post but this is my daily driver and i just want to play a little and try not to break anything:D Thanks

* Red coolant is good and will pass tech, Green stuff will not pass tech.
* M5 for the track will insure it will not go into 6th, it was worth .2 with my small DR's
* Make a few passes with small amount of boost, if you spin back the rpm down or lower tire psi.
* Dont worry about EGT's, its only 1/4mi. nothing will be heat soaked. I ran the 350 tune for over a year without issues.
* Just go have fun

I've never had anyone question me on coolant. I don't think they pay much attention to it on a mostly stock vehicle.

You can drop your torsion bars without having to do an alignment. I do it all the time. If you're really worried about the front end, but want to do boosted launches, I would suggest you lower it AND strap the center link. I've done a bunch of passes without anything other than completely lowering the bars, and knock on wood, I have never had an issue. If you are still worried, you will just have to experiment with the launch to see what it can handle. Usually you can boost it just a little without breaking them loose.

I see no need to put it in M5. I would be very very surprised if you trap high enough that your transmission would shift into 6th before you finish.

Depending on how you launch, I would expect ETs to be anywhere from low 15s to mid 14s.

It's possible EGTs might get up there (I've never run a PPE tune, so I can't say for sure how hot they run), but I wouldn't worry about it for the short amount of time they'll be there.

Hey Joe since I have the lbz if I ran the 160 tune and I drive worth a darn in theory I should be low 14's I would think. I'm proble just being foolishly optimistic but either way it wont make me like my truck any less:) I get a sh**-eating grin every time I floor it lol.

Yeah thats what I was thinking because of what i've read about 5th and 6th being where the 6spds usually limp. as far as the tires i'm running bfg a'ts so whaddya think? Are they gonna spin like mad with any kind of boost?

run about 35 lbs of air in your tires turn that sucker up do and little burn out to get your tires warm build about 5 to 8 lbs of boost and let here go I make 517 to the real wheels and I only bark when I hit second with a all terrain tire and I street race every weekend so I know that track is better then the streets have fun

I tried the 2wd racing thing, best I could do was a 9.4 or so in the 1/8th, so I locked it 4wd a cut a 8.5 in the 1/8th my first run.

I would get sleeves.

Really don't think you need to worry about Manual 5, do it if you want, I doubt your truck will shift into 6th anyway. If you are going to lower your T-Bars, and I doubt it does much if you are running in 2 wheel drive, remember to do this with the weight off the front tires especially when you go to raise them again. Mark the bolts and count the turns so you get them back to their original position. If you are only going to run in 2 wheel drop the air in your back tires down to 30 psi and air up your fronts, there will be less drag if you are not going to run 4x4. Doing burnouts on street tires is a complete waste of time, it only make them slicker. Drive around the water box, besides, Allison's don't like burnouts. If you are going to do a boosted launch you need to do some before you race to help the tranny learn, it will shift better and you will get better times.

Thanks for all the advice from everybody I didnt know i would get so many responses so quickly but like I said I appreciate it. The reason I don't want to lower the bars and run in 4wd is I havent beefed up the frontend yet. I know some people do fine just lowering the front and maybe adding sleeves but I also know the way my luck usually runs and i'm not chancing it lol.
