Racing without a radiator fan?

Taking the truck to the strip this Friday night. The clutch fan has been heat soaking and locking when sitting at stop lights around town this past week, and I'm thinking it might do the same between runs or while the engine is off in the staging lanes. With ambient temps around 100 or so, do you guys think I'd have problems with overheating if I removed the fan?

Are you just looking for a good et or actually bracket racing? If you are just doing time trials probably not. But if you are in an actually race and have to do quick turn a rounds maybe especially if you are racing at Firebird. Take a weed sprayer and fill it with water and spray the radiator when the engine is at idle will actually do wonders.

Just racing for times. No brackets. That's a good idea with the weed sprayer though, I have two of those collecting dust in the attic :)

It is Firebird.

I don't have a fan on the dumpster, and it's fine going down the track, but it gets pretty warm on the return road after a pass. It also starts getting warm if it idles too long.

I think I'll pull the fan and just keep it with me in case the truck starts to heat up too much. It's easy enough to put back on. Thanks guys.
