Z06 can be pretty quick. A lot of it will depend on how good the guy can drive. Tires will play a part in it also. If he can drive I would expect high 12's maybe low 13's without to much of a problem. Here are the numbers...

Factory performance figures for the 405 hp (302 kW) version of the Z06 give an acceleration time from 0-60 mph as 3.9 seconds. While highly debatable, owner-drivers have recorded quarter-mile times in the 11.7 - 11.9 seconds. The lowest elapsed time reported in a 405 hp (302 kW) Z06 of 11.783 seconds at 116.90 mph seconds was recorded by Jarrod Cunningham at Houston Raceway Park on January 10, 2004. GM High Tech and Performance Magazine recorded 1/4 mile times of 11.97 seconds at 118.80 mph in their October 2004 issues for a 2004 Z06. Car and Driver recorded 1/4 mile times of 12.4 seconds for the 405 hp (302 kW) Z06 and 12.7 seconds for the 385 hp (287 kW) Z06 In their December 2002 issue.

Depends on what your truck will do and how well the guy drives. The C5 ZO6 has 100hp less than the current C6 and isn't near as fast. It has less power than a C6 standard Grandsport, but it's lighter. My guess would be about mid 12's stock and with the average driver.

Don't think I would be putting the money up unless you're talking a little bit. They can be quick but if your truck isn't lifted and runs better than the everyday stock/tuner you have a chance. 1/8 mile will benefit you the most.

My money is on you for the first race. He probably will not be prepared to launch as hard as he needs to, get behind panic and just drive poorly. If you give him a second shot at it you better bring your A game.

A pretty much stock Z06 will go mid to low 12's with a decent pilot. Thats what I saw at the track last time I was there, they had a Vettes & Viper day.

Brand new Z06 at Union Grave dragway in Wisconsin runs consistent 10.9x with a 6-speed man. Don't know what he has done to it but the guy can drive the heck outta that Vette. Launches soft in 2nd and puts it in the kitchen about 20' out.

Perfect timing on this thread, raced a C5 Z06 on Monday 0-80 and 20-80. Got him by a good car length on the 0-80 (he creeped from 2-3 car lengths after I ate him on the launch), and got him by a fender on the 20-80. He pulled up next to me after and gave me a big smile and thumbs up!

I lined up a C6 Z06 a year or so.... 4 hi on a big tune,I ditched him off the line. By the time I hit 50, he lifted.....intimidated or just didn't wanna play anymore, I dunno. Any good vette driver will know they cant hang for that first 4-500 feet. More power than they can put to the ground. If that guy had kept his foot in it, its a sure bet he woulda walked right past me. The back 1/8 is where they really shine..... once they can get moving and actually put that ls7 to work, they can eat some ground.

From a roll, is a different story... In the right gear, they'll work most stock motor'ed trucks all day. Light weight, big power and a broad power curve, they can friggin run. A lot depends on the driver though. Most of the clowns running at the speedway can barely manage a mid 13 in a C5 Z06 or C6 coupe... Never seen a C6 Z06 run there, but did see a ZR1 lay down an 11 flat at 130+ several times.

Try both .... id say yeah on 4hi as my stock motor can light 38" tires off thru second. 4hi, brake boosting at 20....then let it eat. Luck.:D
