So I got a Cheetah 68 installed into my LBZ a couple months ago, and while the airplane sound is kind of cool, it is also kind of annoying. Is there any way to quiet the turbo down? I already have a turbo sock, and my exhaust still has a muffler and a high flow cat. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Sell it and buy a non VVT turbo. Not much else you can do really.

Interesting lol...I thought I mentioned this before you bought it???

Not much you can do. They are loud. Maybe a stock exhaust (w/ cat) and factory intake is the only thing that will help and it will still be pretty loud....

One of these days I might star listening to you Mike! Until then feel free to laugh at my mistakes! :). It certainly isn't so bad I'm willing to hamper it with a stock exhaust or intake though. And I was actually thinking it May help to put in less restrictive exhaust like a 5" turbo back kit? (Overall I am real happy with the way it runs, so it isn't all bad, but I probably would have taken it to Trent if I had it to do over again.)

Burn down, do you know what type of twin set up Larry went to? What you said was actually flood news since I've been kinda wishing I would have looked at twins more carefully in the first place. It would be nice to know that may be the way to go in the future.

Thanks guys

I have the regular set of MPI twins, Cheetah and S475, and yes, they quietened the cheetah a lot.

You can quieten down the cheetah, just open the vanes up in the area you want, say at idle you want less hiss, if the vane tables are in the (88 range) try closing down to (80ish), just keep moving in this direction a little at a time till you get the results you are looking for, you will have to adjust the max and desired (target) tables to get the desired effect. You will have to do this throughout the whole table to get acceleration sound, cruising sound etc taken care of.

You have to realize that you can only go so far, you cant open the vanes up too much or you will lose the performance your wanting.

pm me if you need more info

TX of course
Where do you want it quieter idle or WOT? Not much you can do at WOT but like Larry said open the vanes at idle and it will take away the hiss. Do you have a new down pipe I hear those make the hiss a little deeper? A 5" exhaust is only going to make it worse.

Haha, hey man not laughing at you....

Hows the truck running? We need to get you out on the track with us. I want to get a couple passes in on my truck before this season is over.

Thanks Mike. It is running pretty good, but I think it could use some fine tuning, and I definitely need to get my transmission upgraded by Mike L soon. I really just run it on the 3rd tune, but it is certainly fast. That said, I had to ask him to revise the tunes the first time because I was getting far too little boost, and I am still not certain that has been totally corrected (at least with respec to the #3 tune).

I am soooo slammed with work right now that I can't see straight. I would love to go to the track (especially after getting my steering & suspension upgrades that should be installed shortly), but I just don't think it will be possible until 2011. I will definitely take you up on it then.

Once again, thanks for all of the advice, regardless of whether I follow it! We will get together sometime in the fairly near future (probalby 2011 though LOL).
