Jason could you change the title of this thread to "Questions during head gasket replacement/ head stud installation" please. This is why:
How many tries does it take the average first timer to install the coolant bypass pipe between the t-stats and the pump? I went through 2 o-rings and the one that came out before the t-stat one didn't leak
. I pray to God it hasn't leaked when I get there tomorrow afternoon.
I've seen that studs make it to where the upper hose stays unpressurized even when the motor is warm. why is this, is the entire system under that much less pressure ?
Having stock bolts or studs in it shouldn't affect how much pressure is in the coolant system. It's not supposed to leak any pressure into it. On my trucks the upper hose will get sucked in sometimes after I turn them off.
I hope so , might keep that o-ring from leaking
I wasted all my coolant fixing this dang leak, so I started using the hosepipe to get it fixed. I'm wondering if it mixed with what's below the bypass pipe. I was thinking maybe I could take the larger hose off the reservoir and drain it out until it went from clear to orange
What size is that hose anyway? Might me a decent spot to put a drain sometime.
I guess I'm putting a coolant filter on to catch all of what might have went into the motor while we cleaned the deck. I mean why not, I'm already in the poor house because of this ordeal
