Question about LBZ into NBS Tahoe

Electronically, would installing an LBZ in an 07 Tahoe be "plug-n-play"

I have an LBZ on the engine stand & may have the opportunity to purchase a NBS (it's somewhere btwn an 07 & 2010 I believe) Tahoe. If this engine will plug in with little or minimal re-pinning, I may consider the purchase much much more seriously. It's a 2wd. Can we say Tahoe SS Dmax edition?!?!

What's the obstacle(s) to installing the Dmax in a 2wd Tahoe chassis?

Ben (or TDIGuy) would know for sure, but didnt electrical architecture change again in the NBS trucks? Might be able to use LMM underhood harnesses to make the job easier.

If the Tahoe uses standard box/linkage steering, then go for it. If its rack and pinion, dont bother.

Regardless, I'll need to get the engine harness & I was thinking the LBZ & LMM injectors were interchangeable but I can't remember for sure on that.

I'll have to look & see what steering setup they have. I remember reading about your hurdles with the R&P setup.

I hope this thread plays out a bit...
I'm i interested in swapping out the LS2 for a d-max in my trailblazer...

I read about a guy who did a d-max swap in a GMC Envoy once, so it would seem like it's a feasible swap...

Local guy put an LBZ in an Escalade. Not sure what all it took but it looked really clean. Put down over 500hp at the local dyno a week a back.

Edit: a quick search online seems to say the 07-13 tahoes have R&P steering. Bust.

You can do it, dont get me wrong, but you have to find about 2"-2.5" somewhere.
You can do it either by raising the engine, cutting the bottom of the front half of the oil pan back, lowering the rack or a combination of all three.
You might run into bumpsteer issues lowering the rack, though, so keep that in mind.

Lol, already sick of the gasser?

Lol,
Naw, not really.
I actually really like the LS stuff, allot!

But it kills me how much you have to do with them to make "good" power...
Other than supercharging with a Maggie, getting an extra 120whp out of my LS2 takes a cam, valvetrain, longtubes, intake, injectors, e-fans, port work on the stock throttle body or an LS7 TB...all to make 430+ whp and 425ft lbs tq...

If I could put a tuned stock LBZ engine in there I'd have 550whp and practically 1000ft lbs of tq!

The d-max is a substantially heavier engine so I'm not so sure how that would affect the handling but regardless, the TBSS guys would crap!

Nah, run the LS motor. Better balanced truck, better handling, easier to drive.

x2.

And if you think LSx engines are more expensive and complicated to get big HP out of than a duarmax...you are dead wrong! ;)

google "sloppy mechanics".... plenty of sub $1000 builds doing 600++ rwhp.

Seriously. Keep it a 6.0, throw a cheap chinese turbo on there, build the trans, and run the crap out of it. 100x easier/cheaper than a duramax swap. And you dont have to worry about cracking pistons and bending rods at 600rwhp with an LSx.

Lol
Ben, come on now...
$1000....you should goggle "10's for under $2000" on the TBSSowners forum and get back to me...and yes I've been on the sloppy mechanics forum quite a bit
;)

1) I want to have something that lasts
2) this isn't some junkyard fox body...

Heck, I've got about than that into my cam swap (with full valve train) add in all the Sonnax and trans to parts I've added to the trans and I'm well over that $1000 number..

I could very easily add a magnuson supercharger to the mix for simple mind blowing power.
Or even a centrifugal charger like a vortech YSI or a procharger for that matter. Again tho, there's no "bolt on" centri kits for the centrifugal chargers available for the AWD platform...As last I heard House of boost quit making procharger kits
:(
And their lies my problem..
My rig is AWD so there's no simple way to add a front mount turbo and there's no front mount kits available.

The LS2 will handle about 500-550 reasonably well tho...and that's where my immediate goal lies with the TBSS. I've got the basics fairly covered to get there, I'll need a fully built trans and some N2O to get it, maybe an Alky control kit too...

The jack shaft TVS 2300 kit I'd want is about $6800 (complete) and the built motor I'm looking at will be about $6500, the built trans is about $5500...

That whole set up would easily make 700+whp and I'd have a grand total (including all the stuff I've already done) of about $21,000

Run a dry sump. Available from PPE, Curtis @ Extreme in Calgary and maybe a few others.
