Quality control on engines

Reading some threads on here how one motor can take a beating and the next seems to puke out gaskets, cranks, pistons etc, got me thinking:rolleyes: On the new sisu engines that agco is using each engine has the name of the final engine assembler/inspector engraved on the side plate. Each connecting rod is weighted and stamped with a marking to correspond with that weight. I had one of the guys who works at a rather large dealership tell me that when Agco switched from the cummings to Sisu their engine warranty claims went down significantly. Maybe this is something more companies should do so that the quality control would maybe improve.

If gm was doing that, our trucks would cost $90,000 new instead of $50k :D

What is sisu?
Sisu is an engine manufacturer based in Finland I believe. When Agco acquired the Valtra brand the Sisu engine came with it. It is really a pretty good engine as far as I know. We have had a demo with one and its very fuel efficient and meets tier 4 emissions with no egr or dpf just scr which is urea injection. They just passed up John Deere as the most fuel efficient tractor. Agco is in the process of using this engine in all their equipment from combines to small tractors and such.

But if they wouldn't randomly fail then it might be worth it:angel:

they are dropping the allis brand but id expect agco to be around for some time, they are the longest tractor/ag co in the world. i have used a sisu on the farm they are very nice, efficent engines, just come wrapped in a turd of a tractor..

That is true but I have heard their new series of large frame row crop tractors are not to bad.
