Ok I just bought the Quadzilla Commander Control Module for my 05 LLY. I like digital gauges, and this one claims to be able to display 4 parameters at once, and let you pick out of a possible 7. The reason I picked this is that a) DashHawk does not work on 05 LLYs, b) neither does Edge Insight, c) 1 electronic gauge that monitors 4 parameters is a lot cheaper than 4 separate gauges.
This is my experience and I thought I'd share it with you, do with the information as you will.
For starters, 3 of the 7 parameters cannot be monitored unless you buy additional "sensor kits." Ok bummer, they got me but no big deal as I can still monitor EGT, Boost, Trans temp or Oil temp, and Engine Coolant Temp.
Next problem is that the ECT parameter is not even supported on the 05 LLY. It doesn't say that in the directions, in fact it never even mentions the "orange wire" anywhere in the 2 pages of install for the 05 LLY. You have to figure it out yourself when you go to "Select Vehicle" when you set up the software, as it's not even listed as a choice.
So now I'm down to 3 out of 7 parameters for a retail price of $386.10.
At this point I have the trans/oil temp probe plugged in but not installed and it's reading 100 degrees and it's about 45 degrees ambient... ok no big deal, it probably only monitors down to 100 degrees. I go inside, throw some salt into a cup of water and microwave it for 3 minutes. I come outside and throw the probe in it and... 100 degrees... give it a minute and come back... 100 degrees... hrmm
So I'm looking at the probe and end up figuring it's a problem because there's no ground. So I take the probe out of the water and ground it... 100 degrees... eventually I figured out that the wire is actually completely insulated from the probe by two plastic spacers and it's not able to read any sort of signal. So I take off one of the spacers and put the probe back into the water and then ground it again and there we go. I finally have a working probe now. :hello:
I have to wonder though, how many people would have figured out that the wire was totally insulated from the probe by the plastic spacers?
Anyway, the above are my experiences with it... the only thing I can think of is it must have been designed by those Mopar engineers
