I always wanted a quadrasteer bed on my duramax because I thought it would look sweet with some really wide rear tires. Kinda like a mini-dually.

But quadrasteer beds are rarer than horses teeth and when you find one, they are ridiculously expensive. The only other thing I could think of that would sorta give the same look were suburban quadrasteer fender flares. Well I just happend to be looking on ebay and found some. 160 bucks for both of them, I couldnt pass it up. I wasnt 100% sure that the burban and pickup truck bedside body contours were the same, but I couldnt think of why the would be different. I got them today and yep, they fit perfectly.

I sorta quickly test-fitted it just for grins. Obviously I need to paint them, mount them, and hook up the lights still.

Yes, I know it looks stupid with my sweet 6.5" wide PYO's and 265 terra grapplers, but by the end of this summer I might have enough money to buy some nice wide wheels and tires for the rear.

I think in the meantime Ill run spacers. ALSO another option is my buddy has a dually and wants to make it a SRW. He said he would definitely trade axles with me; IIRC the dually axles are 2" wider or something.

BUT the only bad part about that is I dont think my bling EBC slotted/dimpled rotors fit on dually hubs? So what if I put my single rear wheel hubs on the wider dually axle? Would that give the desired increased width as well as still being able to use my EBC rotors that were designed for the 2500HD SRW axle? Anyone know?

well ill shut up now, here are the pics.

idk personally i'm not a huge fan of em. i thing it kinda looks like a bushwacker pocket flare w/o the rivets. looks like you can sit a beer on the top of it. if you keep em' you gonna put front flares on too.

yes. My truck doesnt have flares because when I hit a deer a couple years ago, I needed to get new front fenders. The factory front fender flares were ruined when I hit the deer, so I just took the rears off so it wouldnt look dumb. I had originally planned to replace them with painted/smoothed flares, but never got around to it, so my truck hasnt had any flares at all for 2 years or so. I wanted to put flares on this spring when the weather gets nicer because I think these trucks look kinda silly with no flares.

Like I said, I really wanted a q-steer bed because I like the mini-dually look and the fender lights. But the q-steer burban fender flares were all I could find for the money I had to spend. Ill paint them/mount them, put smoothed/painted factory front flares on, space out the wheels, and then decide whether I like it or not...in my opinion once done right I think it will look cool. (Right now it looks stupid)

one thing...the lights didnt come with any sockets, wiring, or bulbs...does anyone know if they are just standard sockets that can be found at advance auto or something?? I think the lights will look cool at night (again, like a mini-dually), but again, I wont know until its all done.

Im also getting a GMC front bumper to do something like Jordan did. So we'll see how that goes as well...

Im curious to see how the GMC bumper will look with my "normal" chevy SS grille, no offence Jordan. :p:

I agree it looks sh!tty now, but with the right wheel tire combo, front flares, and the correct stance I think it has potential to look real good.... Who's Corrado in the pic next to your truck? Those little VW's were pretty quick with the factory supercharger's....

its one of my frineds, his is N/A. Only the G60 VW's had factory superchargers.

That was down at H20, the biggest annual audi/VW car show in the country. Its in Ocean City maryland. Bunch of my friends all have audis and vw's, I thought it would be fun to drive the truck down and terrorize the thousands of little cars while cruising up and down the strip all night. :baby:

lots of thumbs up from the other cars, there were a few modded VW tdi's down there too so it was fun to blow some smoke along side them.

Everyone got a kick out of my front license plate too, because ALL the cars down there run fake euro plates to be "authentic", I thought it would be clever to get one that says DÜRAMAX with the german U thing. :D

Caught the plate earlier, I like it:cool:. I had a G60 and a VR6 corrado back in my college days, they are fun cars and the auto ajust rear wing was cool, the only complaint I had on both mine were the synchro's going to 2nd gear under high R's always ground. To bad VW did away with them:(

they should just be some standard 194 bulb sockets. that's what's on the one quadrasteer bedside that i have.

lol "normal grille"

well I painted the flares. Ive painted a couple things before but Im not anywhere near good at it. Came out nicely I think, but I got 3 drips in the clear coat (total, 3 flares had 1 drip each and the last flare has no drips). Oh well. I was tempted to wet sand it and try to fix it...but Ive learned in the past to LEAVE IT ALONE!!! I KNOW if I try to fix it ill end up making it worse and make an even bigger mess out of it. You cant see them from ~5 feet away anyways.

Ill post pics tomorrow when they are on the truck. Ill have to wire up the bulbs too...

why not run it behind and against the inner lip of the flare where it wraps the wheelwell. or tun it all the way down to the bottom and under the bedside.

yeah that might work, Im worried about the wires chaffing though because it would be a tight squeeze.

here are some pics. The front fender flare got some crap on it because I temporarilly put it in place with one christmas tree, and got in the truck to move the truck to a better spot for pics, I slammed the door and the flare fell off and scratched the clear coat (its only been drying for about 20 hours, not fully cured.

Still looks a little silly from certain angles with the narrow tires, but whatever. I kinda like it so far. :)

also need to trim the flare slightly at the bottom, the bodyline on the pickup is ever so slightly different. Need to cut out a little section the size of a pen cap. Something I should have checked BEFORE I painted them but oh well.

Also, only two of the christmas tree mounting holes line up, so Ill have to drill some new holes in the flares. The GM dealer was out of the christmas trees and push-pin retainer things, so I just got some at advance auto. Man what junk those are compared to the GM ones. The [advance auto ones] are so brittle if you press on them the wrong way they crack/shatter.
