Pyrometer problem

I've noticed lately (last week or so) my pyrometer needle is jumping around. This mostly occurs on the rise (up a long grade) and the needle will jump rapidly 2-300*, if I let out it will drop to 0 instantly then jump back to what I'm assuming is the proper temp. Also if I pull up on the window switch (window is already up) under acceleration the needle will jump.

The gauge was just replaced by Autometer in the spring...could this be a sending unit issue? The sending unit is about two years old.

Thanks guys.

When the previous gauge went bad the first thing Autometer said was to check ground...I did and it did the same thing. The ground is still hooked up in the same manner. I'll check the under hood wiring.

I have a new probe that came with the new gauge I guess I could try that.

This leads me to another question...I used the clip fix method for the a-pillar and now I am unsure how to remove the a-pillar to run the wires?

When I had a ground problem on my pyro, it would be climbing and then all of a sudden drop to zero. I would let out and after the temp dropped back down, the gauge would jump back to the temp where it cut out and continue to fall. Sounds similar to what yours is doing.
