Thought the thread I read in here said there was a 10 mm hex nut on the oil filter housing.
I got under the truck, saw the hex nut plug and took it out from the bottom. Then when I was dropping the sensor line down I saw another hex nut on the side.

The one I pulled was an 8 mm on the bottom. The one on the side is 10mm. Does it matter which hole it goes in?

I'll just sit here nursing a beer for a while :)

Dang I only remember seeing one... near the bottom of the housing (right next to where the filter goes on) .. pointing down at an angle.. (this is the one I used for my oil temp gauge anyway)

I put mine on the "top" side of the housing. Not sure what size the hole is, but one of the reducers that was included with my gauge fit it perfectly.

I actually drilled a hole in the oil pan....I see the same or a touch more than coolant temps, average is 190 to 200, summer 240 when pushing it hard....

I have mine on the pan side. The other side is where the PPE centrifuge is currently hooked up. Either should be fine. The one on the pan side, has a spring behind it, so I had to put an adapter in there that let the temp probe just barely stick into the oil flow.
