Upgraded to a bigger & much nicer TDI yesterday.

Audi A6 Quattro TDI Prestige.

For the non-VAG folk, the A6, A7, A8L and Q5 have all been offered with a 3.0L V6 TDI (240hp/428lb-ft) since 2014MY in the US, the Q7 has had it available since 09. Yes these are all a part of "dieselgate" and there is an indefinite stop sale on new & CPO vehicles. The A3 was also offered with the 2.0 TDI.

The A6 TDI is only available with an 8 speed tiptronic (old school torque converter based auto) and Torsen based Quattro all wheel drive.

My previous TDI (which is now for sale), is a 2010 Cup Edition with a manual. It has a stg 2 Malone Tune and straight Rawtek exhaust. I decided to go the Audi route after I tallied up all of the things I wanted to do to the Jetta to make it nicer and faster. Lots of money, and I'd still have a Jetta. I started looking at A6s the last couple months and this one was close and met some of my criteria.

I didn't buy an A6 TDI with the idea of having a fast, sporty car. If I wanted fast and sporty I could've bought an older RS4 for less money with 10x the performance. "Sport" cars are fun but after 100 miles they hurt. This car is awesome for regular driving. It won't win a race, but touch the throttle and the torque is waiting to do whatever(peak tq from 1750RPM). At 80mph, it's barely over 1600RPM, 300 highway mile trip at 80mph got 35mpg.

It doesn't feel fast (handles great though), doesn't turn a lot of heads, but the luxury side of things is amazing. I'm sure I'll probably tune it, maybe an exhaust too(they sound badass with one, almost like a GTR). I'm definitely looking for some 20" 10 spoke V wheels like the last pic versus the boring ones it has.

P.S. It's definitely a German Luxury car, cup holders suck lol.

Yes and no, the resources are out there but it's a small market so it's expensive. Plus the 8 spd tiptronic can't handle a lot of excess torque.

Here's a video of one with a few mods and a manual.

The outside look of a BMW or an AMG Merc is fierce, Audi's always have the front wheels set back a ways due to the Quattro design. When it comes to exteriors, Audi sticks 97% into headlight updates and the rest elsewhere haha, however their diesels do kick the crap out of the rest, although now we know why lol.

:( I hate to rant but VW and AUDI are the epitome of corrupt Corporations and these from the factory gross polluters have damaged the diesel industry for their profit. These should not be on the road IMO knowing the pollution and their should be a global class action against them for gross negligent pollution for profit. The racing community is different in that we are not [supposed to be] grossly polluting during all driving senarios, mostly just dumping and racing and we are not selling a product under false pretenses and lying about emmisions.

Nice upgrade Vinny! Not a big Audi fan, but the A6 is a nice car. Love the color combo too. Whats the highway mpg on that V6?
Had a 300+ mile trip yesterday at 80mph and hand figured it at 35mpg. Pretty good for a car that weighs 4,200lbs the 8 speed is geared pretty high, around 1600rpm @80mph. My Jetta got 45mpg on the same trip, but weighs 3,200lbs.

As for dieselgate, I could go on forever about it, but there's a few things I've noticed since the beginning. There's a lot more to the story, and most people could care less. Ask any random person on the street about it today and most have forgotten about it. Some TDI owners are pissed, others are happy and most could care less. The myth about lower resale is a farce, If that were the case those cars wouldnt be selling above value everywhere. Some of my friends that buy and sell cars at auctions say the TDIs haven't lost anything. I'm sure if you go to trade one in a dealer may use it against the value, but in the private market they seem to be just fine. Look at the other cars that have had big issues, actual issues that resulted in a loss of life, or car failures versus a minute amount of excess NOx emissions(gross pollution is a gross overstatement, I've posted the numbers before and could again if needed). People forget about the issues surrounding every other automaker and many have already forgotten about this one.

I'm not an apologist for VAG, however they are not the only ones that do not meet emissions regulations. Most diesels in Europe exceed the limits by a large margin, but it's simply overlooked. VAG may have taken things the furthest, but there's a lot more corruption if you really want to turn over every leaf.
