I have read a lot about pump rub kits or wear plates. I have a 2007 GMC 2500 classic. Should i be concerned about this? Does it affect all years?
Thanks in advance

This has me inspired to do mine as well. Merchant sells the kit as well as LDS and I found a nice write up in DF on it. Google pump run kit and should be one of the first options

Thanks
I went to the all mighty Google after posting, and ordered the merchant auto kit. I already need to do the rear output seal and bushing. So I might as well do it all in one shot.

Do it. It will save you alot of time any money in the long run. Try to plan it when you do a service like a trans and tcase fluid change.

Since you said you needed a rear seal and bushing, did you run the t case out of fluid? Alot of times when you need bushing you may need rear bearing and maybe more . Check your front yoke for groves also. How many miles on truck, is it one or two piece drive shaft?

Mine did that and the yoke was worn out, he could already have the pump rub issue too.

My friend grenaded his 07 transfer case doing 80 and his was not out of oil, he had actually just changed it and it went everywhere when the transfer let go.

I just did the bushing , seal and pump rub kit. The truck is still new to me with 110k miles on it. All the oil I found letting me know I had a problem was pretty fresh. I think the truck was getting used to my right foot and the seal let go. It's a one piece driveline. Btw if anyone plans on swapping out that bushing.... It's not easy

When I had bought my truck the transfer case had already been leaking so I had it changed but I know for a fact that the pump inside can take a shit load of punishment as long as the rub is fixed because at my friends shop they have a truck they use for well pretty much everything from plowing to sled pulling and draggging last time I knew the truck had upwards of a 1000 drags on that same pump...:D

Sounds like you got it in time , did you look at the yoke for groves ? Sometimes a single piece shaft wears the seal , bushing ,bearing and yoke a little faster because of the angle , where a two piece is almost straight back to the carrier bearing , where you where out the carrier bearing because of the angle . Its all part of the fun! Good Luck !
