I just built the Mcrat tow tune but went with more fuel and boost .I added 40% to both pilot and main injection and played with boost scaling a little.
Am i on the right track with this or am i buliding a tune the wrong way ?
Also on puslewith the left side of my fueling scales are way high is that normal ?

did you do 40% to the whole table ? If you due percent I would only due from 140 mpa -190 mpa and from 60 mm3 - 100 mm3 that whole corner of the table

Hey Trent do you have and tips or tricks to help me learn tuning with efi ?

the hardest part is knowing what part of the table does what and how the changes you are making will affect the truck . start simple , log alot to get familer with what mm3 you should expect at idle, part throttle ect and all the other tables and the values in them that way when you adjusta table you know why you are adjusting and what to expect from what you changed . It takes a long time and plan on screwing up alot and having to fix it  but seems like when you screw up is when you learn the most . hope this helps

If he added 40% to the pilot tables, wouldn't it increase the pulsewidth to the point that pilot injection would saty on all the time? Or did you just do the main injection with and without pilot? I'm still learning here as well and trying to understand all aspects of the table. Also I learned the hard way about doing the whole table, it made mine lope like a SOB at idle when I did.

I agree , I dont ever touch pilot , except for adjusting it for my bigger injectors .

0-30mm3 is idle area
leave your pilot pulse alone IMO

Use the scan link tool by logging and having your tune open....Easier if a freind is driving and you are watching the tune:)

Trying to set up my pids for logging on my scan screen , what pids and how do i set this thing up ?

Use the PID file that is labled duramax metric:D

Open the scantool, click the pid tab, click open existing pid files and select duramax metric or imperial

thats all you really need for now unless you are looking for something specific

I think anyone who has played with tunes a lot has tried pretty much every method to adjusting things, I know I have.

Don't worry about the far left side of the table, its borderline impossible for the tune to get into that region anyways. One thing you'll notice with tuning the way you are so far is that the shifting is going to get big time out of control. The torque tables actually reference the pulsewidth tables to determine defuel and all that good stuff. Took me a LONG time to get it dialed in to shift decent. Shifts pretty well like stock now.

Trent gave good advice.

I also don't mess with pilot injection much at all.

PM me if you want some more indepth help.

i think he is talking about the main pulse tables 720 and 721 with and without a pilot. not the pilot pulse tables. i could be wrong though.

When changing parts of main injecton table are you guys highlighting and adding % or adding 10,20 ect ?

I usually make the changes to peak like 100mm3 .......... 150 mpa-190 mpa then make a smoth transition to the rest of the cells , another thing i have done is tweek all the table besides idle area's by 5% then add what i mentioned before , gives it a bit more fuel in light throttle .

Good thinking , ya main pulse pilot off is fine to tweek , i usually just make the tables the same .
