All I can say is WOW!!! I tryed my hardest to tear up a piston(anything) over the last 2 years and guess what! It looks like NEW! The pistons look perfect. Nothing not a thing. They don't even have much of a flower pattern on them. Now i'm mad that I took it apart without trying harder. I really think I could have turned it up more without any problems. I really think "most" of the piston problems are heat related. I have run probably 40 or 50 bottles of NOS on this motor! I think the cool air, were you put it in, and how much timing play a big part. I will get the new motor done and in and see how it goes with good parts. I really wish now I would have left this motor together for a back-up. Ok now back to the kids so I can make time to do this bucket of bolts soon. Thanks Jeff

Hmmm.... are you sure it was low enough? Timing and Temps? What were your numbers?
At the time the piston was damaged, the tune I was running had a maximum timing of 27 degrees. I'm not sure of the EGTs, but with the amount of fuel I was running, I've never seen EGTs over 1300 (that was at the end of a 1/4 mile run; I only got up to 65 or so so EGTs should have been under 1100).

Of all the tunes I've made, I don't think I've made one that had more than 31 degrees of timing and most were 28 or less. With even the biggest tune, it was rare to see EGTs over 1400, and I never came close to 1500.

I'm going to get the weight down on the truck and see if we can get a 9 sec. pass. I will see what kind of power a ally will hold at 5500 lbs. If it won't then I will try something else. Thanks Jeff

After seeking Casper today I feel sorry for any truck getting a full roll cage :cry:

Battery's in camera where dead so I couldn't take pic's or Pat couldn't since I was hard for me to even look at him :baby:

Max PW was 2700. I didn't look at the gauge, but based on experience EGTs were most likely under 1300, probably closer to 1100. I'd have to go back and look at the tune, but I believe I had 1 pilot that was shutting off at 2400 RPM.
