You can do studs and gaskets without pulling the cab I know personally and that's why I havev a lift now. You have to pull the front clip apart and remove the heater/evap core box to do it but it can be done.

ford dealer in my town is so used to working on those shitty motors they can do a cab in 45 mins.
I prefer a truck that doesn't have to have that done at least one if not more times haha.

I know i know but i had a ton of tools out to get this done ....ill get it cleaned up:D

looks good! was it as easy as people say? wish I had the ceiling height in my garage for a lift !
My cieling is only 10'6",works for me.i can still remove a trans, lift a cab .....i wish it was taller but it works. Its a pain in the ass to pull the cab but dam is it nice for working on the engine.

I bet,if you do alot of them you get pretty quick at it after awhile.ive done so many cavalier 2.4 motors and transmissions i can have them out really fast. And im with you i want nothing to do with lifting the cab if i dont need to.

I'd say ur one click on the rack from a sun roof.:thumb: thumbs up man
Had a few friends that tried running the lift and dimpled the drywall on the ceiling, got to run it all the way up to be able to work under it.

Yuck! Scott, your never going to get the smell out of your garage now:D
i know

Cab cherry popped! I've pulled a 6.0, not as bad as it seems! Nice job:thumb:
It did go pretty fast for the 1st time. Its so nice to have 360* access to the motor, its getting an egr delete exhaust oil cooler rebuilt and of coarse head studs and the heads redone so having the cab off is a hugge plus.

Nice lift!!! :D

I have the exact same one. Direct Lift Pro 9F from greg smith equipment, right??

I love the thing...yeah its a floor-plate lift but I have a limited ceiling just like you so I had to get a floor plate lift. But The thing is solid and wayyy overbuilt. Its supposedly rated at only 9,000lbs but Ive seen other 10,000/12,000lb lifts that didnt look as solidly built as the Direct Pro 9F..

You got that right Ben! its an awesome lift ive lifted a cclb dooley with a full 85 gallon transfer tank with no problem and i know it was way over what i was suposed to be lifting with all the crap in the bed.Sadly greg smith doesnt handle direct lift anymore, now they handle Atlas lifts and they arent as tough or as cheap as the dirct lift.Greg Smith said Direct lift was getting to expensive so they switched to Atlas.

Yep....I wish they still carried Direct Lift. :(

The Direct Lifts as you know, are actually Rotary lifts with a different name sticker on them.

As a matter of fact, the Pro 9F that you and I have is technically ALI/ETL rated (the strenuous additional tests/certification that only the best automotive lifts pass/go-through), even though Greg Smith didnt advertise it. Its because the "Direct Lift" branded version doesnt have the ALI/ETL sticker on it, BUT the Rotary Revolution RTP9 is ALI/ETL certified. The RTP9 is the physically-identical (even the instruction manuals and part numbers are all the same between the Direct and Rotary Revolution), but Rotary-branded version of the Direct Lift Pro 9F that we have.

So that should make you feel even better about your Direct Lift. :D
