I fuel up 3 times a week, looking for a way to increase mileage, is this in anyway an advantage??

You know Jason , its a gate way drug that leads to the hard stuff :roflmao: JK with propane cost it isnt really worth it , CNG might be though but it cost quite a bit more for the system if you go with a DOT legal tank .

Propane will pick you up a few MPG's but once you figure in the cost of the kit and filling the tank it really isn't worth it.

You will also pick up some TQ and HP so be careful with your transmission if you really turn it up if you decide to do it.

I would think if you could get a small tow tune you'll do just as well IMO. Whats out there for the 07's?

The number #1 reason propane gets a bad rep is that folk get too tempted to make big power with it. It has killed a lot of diesels when taken to extremes.

If you do it, stick with 50hp gain. Trying for 100+ hp usually gets ugly.

Thanks for the replies, I average between 18 and 20 per gallon right now, so not terrible, but with these prices just lookin for the most possible, can get a kit for around $700 with the tank, don't know anything about it, lookin for feed back...

I have looked into it also. From what I have read propane has approx. 2/3's the btu per gallon of diesel, so the break even propane has to be less than 2/3 the cost of diesel. You do get a slight advange due to the slight increase in engine efficiency with propane. I wish we had cng in our area as that has almost the same btu as diesel and usually costs a lot less. We have run diesel irrigation engines on as much as 80% Natural gas and they do fine.
