I just picked up a 73K GMC SLT Crew 4WD short LBZ, and will be towing a double tag car hauler to Moab Utah from Atlanta, weighing approximately 14000#'s.

I did this last year with an 01' and got about 9 MPG running 80 or whatever in strong headwinds much of the way. We were loaded heavy. I had installed a Diablosport Predator towing 30hp program, even though it had an aftermarket air intake and exhaust system and could have gone higher, but wanted to realize the best MPG possible.

The new LBZ is completely stock. Limited budget so not going with the on-board changeable programs and gauges.

Is there a better buy than a $279 Diablosport Predator?
Should I buy another Diablosport Predator or stay witht he stock program?
If yes, what program should I install?

Take it from me. I have a Predator and it's wound up costing me so much, I wish I would've gone with EFI Live and done it right the first time.

Can you elaborate on why the Predator cost you.... or send me to the threads..

Thanks much.

Well I'm waiting on my third predator right now. Hopefully when they send me the new one back it'll actually work. $285ish for the original one, plus on Diablosport and the Stealership's recommendation, I bought a new ECM ($450ish), plus all the shipping costs back and forth. Fortunately the ECM wasn't the problem so I was able to return it. All in all it's cost me not a whole lot more money than the original predator, but it'll be probably a month before I get one back that works. So the real cost was time and frustration. Their customer service is terrible. I got more help from this forum than I did from them. I may just have had a bad experience but I'm definitely wishing I'd just bought EFI live and been done with it. Besides, from everything I've read you can do so much more with it than a box tuner like the Predator.

Thanks, and sorry about your difficulties. I have a friend that is a dealer and around the corner but you never know when it might go wrong.

No worries. If they send me another broken one, I'm gonna do my very best to make them refund my pruchase price or give me a trinity instead. And this time they can pay the shipping. :thumb:
