Hello, im cody and have a couple of questions about diesel, I'm not new to the diesel world, just new to doing upgrades, so here is my problem, i have a EDGE cts installed currently on my truck, and no matter what tune i have it in it keeps throwing my truck into limp mode (engine power reduced) and i have about had it with this chip is there any options that i need to change for the chip not to do this to my truck. Also I'm looking into making the truck the ultimate pulling truck just for pulling my 5th wheel around with the family on the weekends (19,000lbs) what should i put into the truck to make it hassle free and a good solid pulling machine?

Welcome Cody.

First what is the code? That will help diagnose what needs to be done.
Second give us the specifics on the truck, year, mileage, any other mods done.
Third the search button is your friend, tons of info on the forum. If you can't find what your looking for then just ask.

Hi Cody-
:welcome2:

Second, it would be helpful to know what year your truck is, mileage, and what upgrades you've done and if it's a dually or not (cuz 19k is allot for a stock single wheel!)

I'm not a big fan of the edge (some like it) but I'm sure you'll get your issue figured out here.

It would also be helpful to know what kind of maintenance has been done, this could be as simple as a fuel filter needing to be changed!

Ok 2007 dually GMC dually
nothing done to it just added the chip
Mileage is 12000
and the code there is no actually code, it just puts the truck in limp mode, i bought a code scanner the other day and plugged it in and said there where no codes throwing, so today i was pulling a 14ft trailer and turned off my chip and it threw a code going up a hill, and the code was low rail fuel pressure i don't know the number off the top of my head i can get that tomorrow,

Maintenance it just basic fluids changed and filters

sorry mileage is 120,000, also i have been noticing that the ECT (engine coolant temp) has be rising not crazy but just rising i know the engine is working but what should be the normal numbers for pulling, same with the TFT (XSMN fluid temp) and the EGT what should be the normal numbers for that?

Have you changed the fuel filter lately?

X2
And when was the spin on filter for the Allison changed last?

If it's been a while (more than 10,000mi) change your fuel filter immediately! You should be changing it every 10k.

A bad tank of fuel can put you in limp mode, I carry an extra just in case, especially in winter. Also, try not to get fuel from just anywhere, I'd suggest places that diesel is a staple sale and always being pumped.

The Allison spin on people have different takes on, I change it every 20k minimum, but I've yet to actually hit 20k on my built trans and have changed it already, so
Hehe
