I guess even us that only visit the rust belt still get screwed sometimes.

I was going to replace GP #5 on my LBZ. When trying to remove the 8mm nut that holds the terminal ring on then stud broke somewhere and is spinning in the GP. I can't just pull it out. I was thinking about just cutting it off behind the terminal and deal with it from there. I though I would get someones input more knowable then me. I just didn't want to find out cutting it off would let the heating element off into the engine or something.

Thanks

I can't believe you need to replace a glowplug on that new of a truck already. Mine are all original in my 04 LB7 and it still starts perfect down into minus zero conditions without being plugged in.

I don't think I can get #5 with a wrench.

That fast heating plugs in the LBZs don't seen to last maybe long ~4 year life span. Lots of guys have been replacing them this year this is my 3rd one. GM recommends doing them all at once, but I'm not throwing out goods parts unless they all fail yet this year. Then from now on I will do them all.

I guess I don't understand.

I'd cut the wire, use a deep socket to pull the glowplug, put a new end eyelug on the wire, and install the new glowplug. Or am I missing something?

I didn't want to cut the eye since I don't have one on hand nor can I go get one. My main concern is that the heating element doesn't/ hasn't broken off. Since the terminal is turning freely. I don't want to make something worse.

Ya I have been anti-seizeing the new ones, but I have just been putting dielectric grease on the terminals since I didn't foresee this.

Cutting was ok wasn't sure I was going to get the GP out without breaking it. Just took it easy after it broke free I shot some more PB blaster and turned it back and forth slowly backing it out until it turned freely.

I think I going to order a spare GP just in case and take the rest of them out on the passenger side. To get some anti-seize on them so they don't get worse until they need replaced.
