its not my truck a friend called me it is his lly . I believe it is pressured up cold he only drives it 5 miles to work .
Most llikely head gaskets 
Try looking around the egr see if you see any coolant stains from it being cracked. Is it eating coolant?

Injector cups on a lly???? They dont have cups
Probably head gaskets, I would still check (or delete) the cooler first. It would really suck to do gaskets and find out it was the cooler.
Is the water tank nasty looking or bubbles coming up in it. Put under pressure and when the psi drops pump more in it pull the glow plugs out and bar the motor over and see if any water comes out. If no water you may have a broke fire ring.
He said it isn't using water just pressuring up the coolant tank . He also said a gm mechanic told him how to test for a head gasket and it tested good . I can't tell you how he tested it cause i was losing signal . It does have a little discoloration in the tank .
Sounds like he may just be being paranoid. If it isn't pushing coolant out of the surge tank it's probably normal.
Usually they don't push coolant out put pressurize the tnk and show a low coolant level on gauge cluster
He did say it is pushing fluid out of the tank . I think he wants me to work on it . Alldata calls for 31.6 hrs to fix it . Is this accurate or is it quicker if you have a very mechanical background ?
If it's pushing coolant out of the overflow, then it's headgaskets. Honestly, it's not that bad of a job, i did them on my lb7. If you have the right tools you should be fine :thumb:
Time just depends on the mechanic. But pretty time consuming pulling the engine etc. If its your first time its always going to take longer
