A guy called me up and said he replaced some hoses but not his truck is acting funny. He said the breaks feel spungy and when he comes to a stop and dont have any rpm the truck has no power steering. I told him it sounded as if there was air in the system some where. Now the way we always prime all are tractors if rev them to around 1200-1500 rpm and turn the wheel from right to left for a little while. Will this also work on are trucks or is there something special we gotta do? Or am i totally wrong and its something eles?

i pull my return line hose off and let the truck run and i keep filling the p/s res. that way all the fluid will be exchanged and all the air will get out of the system

You should use a vacuum pump to evacuate the air out of the system. It's not hard to do and that's what the recommended way to remove the air.

He was talking about the hydraulic side, not the brake fluid side. :)

Yes, that is a good way to bleed it. Increased engine speed and turning the steering back and forth. If that does not do it, he may have a bad flow valve in the pump. They also make a higher presser flow valve, -P/N 26095470, available from GMSPO. This is a good mod for 4X4 running larger tires.

I understood what side he was talking about. The GM replacement pump came with specific instructions that recommended using a vacuum pump to remove air from the system. It does work.
