I've been tossing the idea of on board air around for a while. I actually found a 1.5hp 3 gal compressor that runs off 110. It pull MAX 10.2 amp(at startup). I have a 1500watt (3000)max inverter that I am (soon) mounting under the hood and putting on a circuit breaker(12v side) Im not going to be using the compressor for much of anything except the air up and down when needed. Run impact when needed and what not. The compressor is a 3.6cfm at 90psi and 75% duty cycle motor so im not worried about it being able to keep up to my short bursts while running air tool or airing up tires. I can order the compressor for less than $100 my cost new. So thats much cheaper than buying a similar CFM 12v compressor let alone buying a tank. What do y'all think of doing this option since its not going to be used that often? I know my inverter will operate the compressor (inverter is rated at 15amps) and I have used it to power my Dual bevel miter saw which is rated higher than this compressor.
Let me know........
Thanks
