So I'm kind of new to the duramax and truck pulling scene although I've been around tractor pulling since I was a little kid. I've been throwing around the idea of buying an old govt surplus Chevy 1 ton and turning it into a pulling truck. I have not seen any of these trucks used for pulling and it boggles my mind since they are a cheap readily available chassis. I guess my question is, are there any major problems with these trucks that nobody uses them? Well other than the 6.2. I'm not getting serious about building anthing until I get a full-time job just doing some research. Thanks for any help

If you are going to put a diesel in it then most of the drivetrain in one of those trucks will not hold up. You would be better off finding an old gas pulling truck without a motor/tranny and transfer case and start from there. You could get one cheaper than one of the old military trucks. Let me know if you need any help.
