so im pretty sure this morning i put a hole in my piston:D NOT!!! so i was getting on the freeway and put the hammer down. get up to about 95 and all of a sudden my truck isn't really making power, look at my gauges and everything was fine, let off and look at my passenger mirror at my tailpipe and see that the freeway is engulfed by white smoke as it is pouring out of my exhaust. so, coast off the freeway into gas station put it in park and its idleing really rough so i turn it off and look around. smoke puffing out the exhaust still. no visible leaks anywhere. turn it on and pull the oil filler cap off and white smoke pours out. oh ya, ive been running a tune i made by combining a couple of other tunes. just a good street tune and egt's have a really hard time getting above 1400 unless im pegged up a huge hill

so i get it towed home and have been gone all day since. now i gotta get efi at my buddys house and im going to check the balance rates.

any advice?? would be greatly appreciated!!!

Smoke out the oil cap not a good sign:mad: Id pull the injectors and look in there an see if you can see anything. If it cracked/holed a piston, dont run it, might be able to save the block:eek:

just checked my balance rates and cylinder 5 and 6 were at 6.98 when all others were at -.02 or darn close. these are the max numbers.

anything else to check with efi before doing compression check? cant do that today will have to wait to tomorrow

im expecting the worst. i just hope i don't have to do a block

sounds like pistons with the balance rates being so high. I believe JoshH had low compression on one of his cylinders and it turned out being connecting rods.

Sounds like a piston:( If you pull the glow plugs they might also be we with oil if there is a hole/crack

guy for sure!!! going to call him tomorrow. im broke as a joke so this is going on a card. i talked guy about 2 months ago about pistons. so im planning in being into this for 3K. i hope its no more. but i gotta talk to him and talk about motors stuff. mabye ill do a cam. more effeciency would be a good thing.

right now just gotta get it running but would like more performace if its not too much more money. its a work/ everything truck so till i have another vehicle its not getting any crazy motor/ turbo work sadly:(

3k wont get ya much . i would prepare yourself .... unless your just wanting to fix the pistons and turn the power down after .

Man that sucks. When you combine tunes sometimes what you get isn't so good on the internals even if your egts aren't very high.

Whos tuning were you mixing?

i should clarify. it was a tune i made based off of my mcrat race tune, the 20 20 tutorial my buddys lbz tune and lots of my own tweaking. i had tons of hours of driving and changing before got it how i wanted it. ill post it up
