Boater Missing, Poor Guy!
Last saturday we had some bad weather with high winds. The coastline really got hammered. I live along a lake thats about 11 miles long and 2 miles wide at its widest that is in both NJ and NY. Early in the day, up in the North (NY) end, a guy was winterizing his boat and added some stabilizer and took it for a run to get it in system. He called his wife on his cell and told her he'll back in 15min or so. Several hours later his boat was found running in nuetral washed up on a northern island. The water I was told is about 48 degrees. What boggles me is that its a cabin boat, so the only way I can see how he fell out is that he was looking at prop and got knocked out by a gust. The water being that cold and being bundled up, I guess every second counts and getting out. All the authorities released so far is that He's from Greenwood Lake,NY and he's married. The way my house is located, I have a panoramic veiw of about 70% of the lake. There's law enforcement boats scattered about with dive teams. and every 15-20 min a chopper of some kind does a low fly-by. They must be telling private boaters to stay off the water cause there isnt a single one out there and there's alot of die-hard fishermen in the area (No pun intended). I dont know, kinda makes you want to look around and apreciate what you got.
