Sounds like you either have a leak in the fuel system and its not holding vaccum or your fuel filter head needs to be rebuilt because its not holding its prime.

when was the last time you changed your fuel filter? is there a plastic type filter on it or a metal one... some places like napa sell a platic type that doesnt work so well

we have an lbZ doing the same thing, but how could the filter head wear out over 8 filter changes? What is there to wear out? The pumper?

Could it be a weak cp3?

There are about five areas in the filter head that can leak air in when under the normal vacuum. A partially clogged up fuel filter will emphasize the air leaks as there will be more vacuum.

How hard is it to rebuild or just do away with the factory head set-up? Seems like it maybe easier to get rid of it and run an airdog.

Rebuild kit http://www.merchant-automotive.com/deluxeduramaxfuelfilterheadrebuildkit.aspx

It's fairly easy. I've done one for a friend. Also Installed an air dog for another one to delete the factory setup for same problem Just un bolt factory filter and loop the inlet and outlet lines together with a hose. Air dog costs much more but if you could afford it it would be the easiest, plus your feeding your cp3 then instead of it sucking. And better filtration. That's just my opinion
