my front end is worn out, i had to replace both fornt wheels bearing a month ago and noticed my pitman and idler arms are wore out. i finally got some cognito braces so i am going to get some new arms, because i didnt want to replace them without braces.

is everyone using factory gm parts or are moog parts just as good. and if i go moog because of lifetime warranty will the cognito's work with them? any downsides with the moogs?

Thanks
Travis

My understanding is there a is Cognito kit for OE P/I and there is a kit for Moog P/I. Which ever cognito kit you have would probably determine which P/I you should purchase. ;)

My cognito kit came with hardware for both kinds, OE and Moog. That was a year ago.

I don't remember where I got them from though, somewhere on the interenet.

And I remember hearing something about how bad the Moog pitman arm is for our trucks or something? I read it over on DP a while ago. Surprised me as Im used to Moogs quality. I replaced mine with OEM... people were saying they were the best and cheaply availible from a few dealers. May want to research the moog thing on DP.

I had the braces on my OEM arms. I had replaced my ball joints and idler arm and got a moog idler arm from the carquest store and it had different threads. I had to wait a couple of days for the right bushing/nut to get here to fit onto the moog idler arm. About 3 months later I hit a pothole and it took the threads right out of the moog idler arm and popped that nut off. Everything stayed together but needless to say I limped it home. I put a GM idler arm back on and my origional cognito nut and I have not had a problem since. BUT, I have not got over 5,000 miles since then either.

Its kind of hard to explain. It made more of a noise than what I felt (besides the bigass pothole). I thought I broke something! (well, I guess I did :D) But I could not find that nut anywhere. I wonder if what I heard was the nut ricocheting off the road and back into the truck? The only difference I could tell whne driving was that my steering was a little more "loose". I think it bothered me more trying to figure out what I was going to do if the pitman arm came out of the centerlink while I was going down the road moreso than anything else!
