I posted in a previous thread but no firm answers to my question so ill ask again.

The rubber diaphragms for the PCV check valves are rotten for lack of better description. I was informed that the only way to get replacements requires me to purchase the whole upper valve cover which i don't want to really do.

So I'm thinking about trying this. A check valve right after the outlet on the PCV casting and then gutting the actual PCV housing. The check valve would have a 0.5PSI or less activation and then this way it still retains some pressure while at the same time eliminating the diaphragm and internal spring and valve. I would just machine up some aluminum covers to replace the rotten factory steel pieces.

Would it work?????? Or would the check valve need a higher opening pressure? I have the All Season Diesel aluminum reroute fittings so would just have to buy a few -8AN fittings to accomplish this.

I would say that using the reroute you would only need a check valve to keep some inse t or the likes from getting into the engine. Pressure shouldn't have to be muck at all.

Do i really even need the check valves? can i just gut the PCV valve on each valve cover and route the hoses into a catch can? Or are the check valves required for proper engine operation?

When using the pcv in stock form I believe the valve is there in case something catastrophic happens to keep debris and/or pressure from entering the valve cover. If you do something like what I have done which is route the pcv into the downpipe, the valve is needed in case of a nitrous backfire and to keep any exhaust gasses from entering, even though installed correctly it should create a vacume. I personally would not go with out a check valve.

As far as replacing the whole valve cover, that doesn't seem.quite right cuz it looks serviceable, but if its not I am sure there is someone here on the forum that has a set they would be willing to part with, if not there are some vendors like all seasons that sell used stuff regularly for good deals

Good luck man
