PCS controller for Allison

My question is can and will a pcs controller be better for an Allison than the tcm controlling it. I have talked to other people and been told im crazy for wanting to do it but from what i have seen with the duraflight i am willing to try it but wanna know if anyone has tried it.

the allison is such a complex trans to control and like nothing else aftermarket companies have dealt with...the allison OEM software and TCM's have years and millions of dollars of R&D in them. PCS kept having problems with it jumping into reverse (on the highway), not shifting right, applying all the clutchpacks at once, etc...

There is a controller that works. Tune it with EFI. A little pricey but good.

:thumb: Yep the stock controller is the only one that will work. As I understood it the solonoids in an ALLISON are not simply off on solonoids and require a specific frequency to actuate properly. Also there are quite a few of them in there to control. PCS wrote on there forum that there controller was unable to control the frequencies and multiple solonoid actuations that it requires to shift the ALLISON. So they partnered with DESTROKED and made an OS that will allow there XFC fuel controller to provide the same J1939 signals that the stock DURAMAX ECM provides(TPS) and it also outputs a tow/haul signal and OD/LO signal like the 03-05 trucks use. The only signal that the TCM really needs from the engine on an 01-05 TCM is throttle position as it gets the rest from it's own sensors.

The dmax ECM sends the TCM a lot more than just a TPS signal over the J1939 bus...

For the sake of the PCS XFC box that's the only one that it must have to work. I know when it is coupled up to the DMAX it sends fueling and torque info for the defuel and to prevent slippage. This is why I was dead set on making a BCM work in my swap as I wanted to retain those features in my swap and not cut them like DESTROKED's kit does so that I could get tow/haul to work.

You can disable adaptive learning via EFILIVE, but it isn't reccomended.

x2 I agree...there are lots of settings in the TCM that can be [dangerously] altered with efilive.

I know people that have turned off the adaptive learn at the track. Why, I don't know. My T/H button does the same thing, and to me is alot safer. JMO, I'm no expert, but I am a member of the Gerbil Club!
