Parking Brake Help

My parking brake doesn't work at all and when its pushed to the floor and I pull the release handle it just kinda pops and doesn't do anything and then I have to lift up on the pedal....Fixes?????????

Remove it all, if you don't mind doing so. Cable runs along the frame rail to the rear parking shoes.

Out of any given group of 100 late-model GM pickup trucks, its probably safe to say at least 75 of them have a parking brake that does nothing.

Yep, mine being one of them. If anyone has driven the truck even once with the parking brake applied the shoes are probably toast. Have you looked at the condition of the shoes yet? I would at least start there.

I for one have never used mine for anything at all the parking brakes on rhese trucks even when working are beyond worthless.

My parking brake works great. I'm not sure what you guys are complaining about. It's a pretty simple system. A couple of small brake shoes under the rotor hat, an adjuster, and a lever attached to the cable. Either the shoes are worn, the adjuster isn't adjusting right, or the cables are stretched (or something in there is broken).
