what do i need to do for my block to be painted, and to clean off my stuff like heads and valve covers and ect., is Simple Green Aircraft cleaner good?

I like to use a good degreasing soap and pressure wash em, then use some laquer thinner in a spray bottle to get the final layer of grease off just before painting. Then again I'm not much for deatail work.
