New spin on filter, new internal filter and 2 drain and refills and still having issues.

Driving home on the highway trans temp will get up to 170* and when I get off the highway and the trans downshifts to fourth it throws this P0872 code and goes into limp mode. I can park the truck, clear the code, run into a store for a minute and once the transmission cools off below 170* it won't throw the P0872 code.

Any reason why I'm only throwing the P0872 code when the transmission reaches 170*?

Trans was built 2.5 years ago (roughly 50k miles ago) by Tony at All Season. Goerend converter. Your trans cooler.

Truck will only throw the code once you start downshifting. Truck will drive fine in 5th with converter locked at 170* +. It's only when the truck downshifts to fourth at higher temps that it throws the code.

Drop the pan and switch the E and D solenoids. They are the 2 center solenoids between the A&B trim and F trim. See if it changes codes. You may also have a bad internal harness.

Will do. Thank you.

Was doing some reading and came across a post of yours on dieselplace stating "Disconnect main harness connecter at back of trans and see if there is fluid at the pins. You need to squeeze the connecter at 3:00 and 9:00 and wiggle to get it off. Make sure the key is off otherwise it will set off a bunch of codes." And that the internal harness needs to be replaced if there is fluid at the pins. Is this correct?

The D and E solenoids are interchangeable and the truck will drive fine?

Also I'm assuming if I swap the solenoids and the code follows it's a bad solenoid? If not then it's more likely debris in the bore?
