p0827 short to ground somewhere

I am pulling a TCM P0827 in my wifes 07 lbz, I understand this means i have a short to ground somewhere in the tap shifter. Ever since this started happening half of the steering wheel buttons don't work, the radio goes into scan mode every time you try and push one of them, and in order to get the tap shifter to work I have to hold the gear lever up a little. Can anyone who has had this problem give me some advice on where to start? Where did you find your short?

I would start by looking under the cover that surrounds the steering wheel.
