Any ideas with this one.

Customers truck just in. Throwing a p0792 Shift solenoid A system performance.

They got drunk and beat on the standard trans. Has efilive tuning I assume way to strong for the standard Allison.

Can I assume he has toasted the clutches. Was going fine before he hurt it.

Thanks Heath

Hey mike,

Yeah its strange, just changed the spin on and a lot of black material on the magnet. Oil is in ok condition, doesn't smell burnt.

Could it be an electrical issue? I might try another TCM.

Thanks Heath

Yeah limp mode into 3rd.

Cleared the codes and put a new spin on filter. Got a couple of gear changes then P0972 again, and p0700.

Wait a minute. The code has now changed to P0972 ? That would be your top solenoid on the valve body. The one that's hard to connect. 972 indicates an open circuit at the solenoid.

Sorry mike, and everyone else. My mistake.

Yeah its a p0972. If you clear the codes then drive the vehicle its fine. But if you clear the code then select reverse. As soon as it sense any speed it throws the p0972. Limp mode etc.

Ill drop the pan and check it out. What the cause of the P0972??

Thanks and sorry Heath
