this morning driving to work i threw a P0741. my TC was not locking up in over drive at all. it also shifts into gear very rough, from park to drive, or to reverse, like there is a load on it when it does it and it will jump forward (or backward) and i have to hold the brakes really hard at stop sign or when shifting because it wants to push thru it.
last weekend i over headheated my tranny got it to about 250*. did not have any problems all week and actually pulled my trailer again this weekend with no problems at all. (never got over 200*) but this morning on the way to work i got this code and it wouldnt lock up. so did i do something when i over heated it.. Mike already told me that the code is because of converter slipping, but what is causing it not to lock and push hard when im trying to stop or shift? is my converter going out or what?
thanks

Bet your converter lid will have a big black ring aroun it. The clutch is dragging in partial TCC apply.

You need a Tech 2 to overide TCM command and see if you can control TCC. Check green wire w/white tracer and brown wire at TCM. Could be unplugged connecter at F trim solenoid in pan or damaged sealing ring on input shaft.

i suppose this could be possible because i recently changed out my TTS computer and put my stock one back in with a ppe tune. so its possible maybe i pulled a little to hard on a wire or something when i moving the TCM out of the way... i will check that today.
only way to check the seal ring would be to pull the trans and converter off though right... or is there another way to know ring is damaged, like fluid leak at the front of trans or inspection cover on bell houseing?

You can check the wires but odds are the converter is on its way out:( If the ring was bad it would probably leak fluid back into the tranny but that is just a guess.

damn.
i just got off the phone with ATS and he says it is very uncommon for the converter to go out and he thinks it is possible something to do with the burnt fluid and dirty valve body/selinoid... find that kinda hard to beleive though. he also told me i need to get a hold of a tech 2 and manually lock the converter to see if it will lock. can you do this with EFI live or no? i have easier access to that then i do a tech 2..
cant i send in this triple disk and upgrade it to a 5 star for like $500.00 or something?

Yes, you can lock a converter with EFI. You have to use the DVT function of the scan tool.

dropped valve body today, F selinoid was stuck so got that unstuck and cleaned up the bore with emery cloth, cleaned everything else and reassemble converter still doesnt lock, even on stock tune. hooking up to efi live friday and going to see what the percentage of slip in the converter is and go from there i guess. sounds like im gonna be needing a new converter though!
i see ats is making the triple disk again, do you think they could take this old triple disk and rebuild/update to the new one?

What posessed you to take emory cloth to the valve bore? That is the quickest way to ruin a valve body. How accurate do you think your sanding was on a critcal bore? tollorance is critical in a valve bore and the sharp edges on the valves are for pushing pieces of debris down the bore and not stick the valve.
