my buddie just got an 01 and it has the code p0093 in it and it has a real heavy fuel smell and the oil looks like it might have some in it but cant really smell it. the balance rates look good and I commanded 160mpa and it gave me 19 to 20 k on the cp3 and was wanting 23k. what else could I be looking for?

If you're down a few thousand psi when you command max rail it's usually injector(s). Remember balance rates are only a relative comparison of injectors to each other. All 8 injectors can be worn out, leaking externally or returning to much fuel and still have good balance rates. If he doesn't want to bite the bullet and buy all 8 right away better find a bosch shop to test them.

X2 balance rates don't tell the whole story. You can do a return test on the injectors. The heavy fuel smell and fuel in the oil sounds like injectors though.

ok that makes sense how do I do a return test and the last log we did the cp3 give 13k while it was commanding 23k would that still have anything to do with it or is that in the injectors

Sounds like a bad CP3 unfortunately. I'd check fuel filter and housing first seeing as its the cheapest thing to rule out. Then you're basically left with the injectors, return lines, and CP3.
