P0089 after lift pump

Today I shimmed my fprv and then drove to the hardware store to get fittings for my lift pump. All was good.

After I got the lift pump in it max's rail pressure to 26k. Turn the pump off rail is normal and no code. Everytime I turn the pump on I get the p0089 fuel pressure regulator 1 performance as the actual surpasses the desired.

I've never had this before and installed plenty of lift pumps. I don't think this can happen because of the pump pressure setting, and I've had them set higher in the past. Could it be the regulator is bad or a problem with the fprv?

Check the lift pump pressure, shouldn't be no more than 12 PSI. Remember the CP3 already has a gear driven supply pump on the end of it to supply the CP3 whereas others use an electric supply pump to supply the CP3. Any added pressure only compounds how much pressure the gear driven pump makes, and forces more fuel through the FCA than it can control.

Your lift pump is up too high. I run mine at 8psi on my lb7. I noticed at anything higher then 15psi seams to push fuel pass the gear pump and fpr causing a louder idle and lop.

I never gave it much thought but the motor is a new style one that replaced my 5-6 year old motor and is a good amount bigger. I thought it sounded more quiet but I'll bet it was making a different noise being as it was pushing a lot more pressure than the worn out pump it replaced.
