So driving home from work today was 35* (warmest it has been all day) truck kicked over to hi idle so I was letting it sit and do it's thing. I thought it might have came out of hi idle early because it wasn't doing it for as long as normal and the temp gauge hadn't moved yet. Oh well, drove off (working in a neighborhood didn't go over 25 mph) went to turn on the main road and I thought something was acting differently (also, limped my trans last night so I put it in my first tune from my second) so I attributed it to that.
As I was accelerating to 45 mph, like I normally would or even slower, I kept having to give it more throttle to maintain 35. The tach was bouncing around so I let off and it fell on it's face. Got back on the throttle and it was hesitant but better. CEL comes on. Pull off at a gas station to read the code and I notice my truck is hazing. (truck has hazed when cold for almost a year) This has me thinking maybe the fuel might have gelled in the filter. I leave to go to parts store and it runs fine. Get to a stop sign and when I go to take off it really falls on its face. Probably giving it 3/4 throttle and nothing. I let off and it comes back, still hesitant.
I left the truck running while in the store, the guy who works there also has an lbz and didn't think it was the filter. So I drove it home (truck had been on for maybe 30 mins now) and I wasn't flooring it but I was getting on it pretty good to see if I could make it limp. Got home with no other problems.
So I'm at a loss. It's been in colder weather before with no problems. I run stanadyne in my fuel every fill up, though I might have not put enough in this last time. Also, at work when any of our fuel filters gel the machine generally turns off. The last thing I want to emphasize is that I wasn't towing anything, in my smallest tune, driving normally and got the p0087 code. Mods are in sig.
Any help would be useful.
*Fuel filter was changed in Sept.
Thanks
