I just took the truck to Big O to recheck the tire balance due to a vibration. The guy said all the rims are somewhat bent (not dented). He showed me the spinning tire on the machine which had some up/down motion, not much at all though. I'm wondering if I have too much weight on them. I cross the scales at about 14,200 truck and truck camper in the bed. Sure the truck is rated at 11,400 on the door, but they are usually conservative. Maybe it's not that conservative. Do the steel rims bend without denting? It started after a long trip down a very bad dirt/rock road. I took the road at 5 mph and never hit bolders or pot holes, but I'm sure that when crossing rocks that the dual rims in back have often supported all the weight on one tire on the rock while one was in the air. I was considering aluminum rims, but they all have less capacity than steel but don't bend, they break. Good idea, bad idea, not sure.
What do you think of this situation?
Over weight? I'd think I'd have tire or frame issues before bending the rims.
Steel bends over time, just get new ones?
Go aluminum?
Big-O tires full of crap? Tires are now balanced, but still has the "out of balance" feel.
Not sure what to think.
