Does anyone else on here mess with them?
In my line of work (and especially recently) I have had to mess around with buying and selling commodities (corn and beans) to TRY to gain some $$ on some grain that I had sold earlier in the year (at a lesser price). Prices have been going up pretty steadily, but the volitily between 2 days can sometimes be $.40/bushel! So far the last couple of weeks have been good to me, but I just hate having to watch the board all day every day! I dont know how some people can do this for a living?
Anyway, I guess I was just interested to see if anyone else buys/sell stocks or commodities on a somewhat regular basis? Could be some interesting conversation?
Do you Canadiens have your own stock market all together?

I'm also going to try my best to get into some real estate investment.

Yeah, I think real estate could be a safer bet here before too long. If the interest rates get cut a little more (which it sounds like it should) and home values keep dropping a little more it might be a good time to get in on some "bottoms".
The whole economy thing has me scared to do a whole lot of anything though at this time--with almost anything.

I've been in the markets since I was 14, and it's definitely worked for me. In my opinion you have to make your money work for you, instead of just a savings account where you don't even keep pace with inflation.

Read Rule #1 by Phil Towne... great book for a novice. He basically collects all of the formulas and general knowledgebase out there from Warren Buffett and he put it into one little easy to read book. Since I started reading it, it was the only reason I avoided the big declines we had in September/October, and January.

Yea, that is until you get your yearly real estate tax bill

Yeah, that is a VERY sore subject with us farmers. My old man says that his taxes on most of his land now are higher than what he paid in land payments on the same places 10 years ago. Its close to $3,000 per 1/4 section of farm ground around here now.

In Canada, we have the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) Lots of little companies starting out start there.

I have day traded here and there, and pretty much came out even but it's like going to the casino-never bring in more money than you can afford to lose!!
